Please do not provide sensitive information about another person unless you are authorised to do so. The Service is not designed for special-category data such as health, biometric, religious or political information.
4. How we use personal information
- To create, authenticate and manage accounts.
- To provide profiles, listings, search, networks, referrals, enquiries, favourites, messaging and notifications.
- To process and verify payments and maintain transaction records.
- To provide support, respond to requests and communicate service information.
- To operate, monitor, troubleshoot, secure and improve the Service.
- To prevent fraud, misuse, harmful conduct and breaches of our terms.
- To comply with legal obligations, enforce rights and resolve disputes.
- To send marketing where permitted and according to your preferences.
5. Our legal bases
Under UK data-protection law, we rely on one or more of the following bases:
- Contract: where processing is necessary to provide the Service you request or take steps at your request before entering a contract.
- Legitimate interests: to operate, secure and improve the Service; understand its use; provide support; prevent misuse; and protect users and our rights, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose information or otherwise comply with the law.
- Consent: where you choose optional processing, such as certain marketing or device permissions. You may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier lawful processing.
6. Who we share information with
We may share relevant information with:
- Other users and businesses where needed for profiles, listings, networks, referrals, enquiries and messages.
- Service providers that support hosting, databases, authentication, file storage, communications, notifications, analytics, security, customer support and technical operations.
- Payment providers, including Stripe, to process payments, prevent fraud and confirm transaction status.
- Apple and Google, where relevant to app distribution, purchases, device services and push notifications.
- Professional advisers, insurers, regulators, law enforcement or courts where reasonably necessary or legally required.
- A buyer, investor or successor in connection with a proposed or completed sale, financing, reorganisation or transfer of the business, subject to appropriate safeguards.
We do not sell personal information for money.
7. Profiles, listings and content visible to others
Business listings and parts of user profiles may be visible to other users or, where the Service makes them public, to website visitors. Information you send in a referral, enquiry or message is visible to its recipient. Do not publish information you do not want others to see. Removing content may not remove copies already received or lawfully retained by others.
8. How long we keep information
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above. In general:
- Account, profile and business-listing information is retained while the relevant account or listing remains active and for up to 90 days after deletion, unless a longer period is necessary.
- Referrals, enquiries and messages may be retained for up to 24 months after the relevant activity to support the service, safety and dispute handling.
- Support records may be retained for up to 24 months after a case is closed.
- Transaction, tax and accounting records may be retained for up to seven years where needed for legal or financial obligations.
- Security logs and backups may be retained for a limited period consistent with security and recovery needs.
We may retain information longer where required by law, necessary for legal claims, fraud prevention, safety or an active dispute. We may keep anonymised information that no longer identifies you.
9. International transfers
Some service providers may process personal information outside the United Kingdom. Where required, we use a recognised legal mechanism and appropriate safeguards, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual protections. Contact us if you would like more information about safeguards relevant to your data.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information, including access controls, protected communications and service monitoring. No internet or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for notifying us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
11. Your UK data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:
- be informed about how your personal information is used;
- request access to your personal information;
- ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- ask us to erase information;
- ask us to restrict processing;
- object to processing, including an absolute right to object to direct marketing;
- receive certain information in a portable format; and
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
These rights are not absolute and exemptions may apply. To make a request, email privacy@networkconnect.app. We may ask for information needed to verify your identity. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, but we would appreciate the opportunity to address your concern first.
12. Children
The Service is intended for people aged 18 or over and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so that we can investigate and take appropriate action.
13. Push notifications and marketing
If you enable push notifications, we use a device token to send service alerts, such as messages, enquiries or referral updates. You can change notification permissions in your device settings.
We will send electronic marketing only where permitted by law. You can opt out using the unsubscribe method in the communication or by contacting us. We may still send essential account, payment, security and service messages.
14. Third-party websites and services
The Service may link to business websites or third-party services. Those organisations control their own processing, and their privacy policies apply. We are not responsible for third-party privacy practices.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our Service, practices or legal obligations change. We will publish the updated version and revise the “Last updated” date. Where a change is significant, we will provide an additional notice where appropriate.
